Why is my computer memory going down?

I have an advent lap top with about 150 GB of memory, most of it's memory is taken up with movies and music I have downloaded but when I got to about 20GB left I stopped, but since then the memory keeps going down even though I have deleted some things to make room for it, could it be a virus or malware doing it? I now only have less than 4GB left
