I need a free very good anti virus software?

ok so i have a new hp dv6 laptop and its got windows 7......i need a freee very good and reliable anti virus software......i dont want it to slow my computer down for being on in the background all the time.....and if there is anything else that is free that can help reinforce my computer please tell me what it is and were i can get it
